Solid Brass Pier Mount Lantern

One pier mount, done properly: the ELM-A wall sconce reworked as a gate-head lantern in solid brass, with clear glass sides, a hand-soldered cap, and a cast base that bolts straight to the pillar. Every joint is cut and soldered at the bench by our Zhongshan brass lantern factory team, then wired and lit-tested before it ships.

Brass never rusts, so the fitting outlives the paint around it. On exposed pillars we seal the joints, gasket the glass, and drain the base at the bench so the inside stays dry. Size the cap a finger wider than the pillar on each side and bed it on sealant. Larger pillars, matched pairs for double gates, or a copper finish that weathers into patina all go through our custom brass lantern workshop.

Pairs for Gates, Brass for Weather

Pairs for Gates

Set one brass pier mount lantern on each gate pillar so the pair frames the entrance, or stand single fittings on garden-wall piers where the path turns. Because the lantern crowns the pillar instead of hanging on a wall, visitors see it from every side — so we solder and finish all four faces at the bench, with no plain back turned to the street. Clear glass keeps the lamp visible after dark, which is exactly what a gate-head light should do.

Raw or Lacquered

Leave the brass raw and rain and air deepen it into a natural patina; choose lacquer and the golden tone holds much longer before it needs attention. Either way the metal never rusts, so the fitting outlives the paint around it — the same reason a pier mount lantern suits exposed pillars year after year. A seasonal wipe of the glass and a brush of leaves off the cap keeps it reading crisp from the street.

For the walls inside, browse the solid brass wall sconce range; for low hallways, the solid brass ceiling light collection. Send your pillar dimensions with the quote request and we return a drawing for sign-off before cutting brass.

Order the gate pair together and both lanterns leave the bench as a matched set, cut from the same brass stock so the two fittings weather alike on the pillars. We cut and solder every pillar lantern by hand in our Zhongshan workshop, then wire and light-test it before it ships. One order, one matched pair, and the entrance reads as a planned pair instead of two near-matches bought years apart.

Start from the full solid brass lighting collection to coordinate gate, porch, and hallway in one metal from one maker, then send pillar dimensions and quantities with the quote request. Because one workshop builds the gate lantern and the indoor fittings together, finishes arrive matched across the whole project. We answer within 24 business hours with a drawing for sign-off before cutting brass.
